Background or not?

---------------

Borning with some of my lastest post (siren and German officer), a discussión started between the cursed monkeys... ¿editions with background are good or not?

Of course we, the monkeys, argued peacefully , we trowed each other thing to the head, show our teeth, clib to the trees and kick the flour hard... a normal day, but we want to know what do you think about.

Some arguments said pro and aginst:

-Agains: background distracts a lot from the minaiture
-Pro: Background edition is more beatuful
-Agains: Some people see a edition and thinks about photoshop cheating
-Pro: gives a more professional image
-Against: Without background the painting quality is showed
-Pro: Edition shows that we know how to edit, not only paint

¿which are yours?

SS Totenkopf; Pegaso 90mm

Recently I finished my first 90mm miniature. It's a model i wanted to paint since some time ago but i never had enought time. Alex varela (Iguazzu) was so kindly to give me as a gift so i couldn't let it be parked much more time.

Even the miniature was a little complicated at first ( it's not easy to handel a big plumb model like this) I think at the end it reached a good level.

Hope you like it.

"Peter Parker" my First Scratch

I'm curious about sculpting since time ago, it's a field that i feel hard and complex, and I was alwais a little scared of it, and in fact i have no much time to play with stuff.

But one day some time ago i asked myself ¿why not? and I started to do something. Several months later Peter parker borned, my first miniature 100% sculpted and painted by me!

Obviously I have too much to do better, but at least i think i did the most dificult step: to start.

Hope you like it.

PD: have a look at the great camera Piqui did for me.

SS Totenkopf bust

Great young minaitures bust I painted for my personal collection.

As you know i usually do not have the oportunity to paint something for myself, so when i can do it i usually let my imagination fly so it's a little far away of a classic historical painting :-)

Hope you like it as i do.

Siren

----------

After Torrent's contest and with some more time to do the pictures edition, I can show you some more views of the sirens I painted for  Origen Art.
`
As I know some previous information I can answer some questions that some people showed past weekend.

I want to say that I do not work in Origen, I'm an external painter, in the same way, the digital editions are from my own, Origen did not worked on them so those are not the official boxart designs who unfortunately could not be on time for the contest.

Much people asked how can they buy the miniatures if they were not at Torrent. I want to clarify that Origen Art is not working YET, That was a premier of what they want to offer us in the next months, their webpage is under construction, but, by now, you can follow them in their blog  http://origenart.blogspot.com.es/ In fact even the boxes and the blisters were not the official ones, so if you want to buy throught web you have to wait, i'm sorry.

Price and size of the miniatures are the following:

Siren is 45 €, it's a 65mm scale more or less, but with the tail and the boath it's around 12 cm tall. Includes siren, big boat, small boat and some small pieces you could put were you want that i did not used in the boxarts. This is NOT the same Siren that Pedro Sculpted some years ago, but he used that one as base to do a better one.

Elven is 28mm scale and it's price is 12 €, kit includes the elven body, one hand with helmet, one hand with spear, a shield and a cut of the robe, so 5 pieces

Both are casted in resin of great quality and i do not like resin in fact, so it must be very good if i'm telling that!

And finally the Siren's pictures!

Origen Art

Fast monster painting tutorial

During past hollidays, one of those days in Alex's home, while we were wainting for Piqui to play a Descent, I decided to kill the time painting 3 spiders in a fast & simple way.

Painting process was about 30 minutes for the 3 spiders, As you see , fast and cute even if it's not to be proud of.

First of al We masked some parts with blutac

Despues las imprimamos en negro
Then we primmed them in black

With airbrush I painted a light with dark blue sea and then I added a little flesh.

Down part of the body is not in the pictures but it has a light with flesh and an intermediate tone of purple.

We painted eyes with a point of white and the disgusting boobles in the back with purple.

Desenmascaramos
Unmasked

Some outlines and a black wash on the red bots.

Hope you liked it. Every insect miniature could be painted in that fast way.
