Last Week's Activity: Week 13

[Spanish] [Read it in English below]

Evidentemente no lo he escrito yo.

[English]

Relaxing week. I was only working on my world expo projects and I'm not going to post any new pic yet. I can only say that the first of my 2 miniature's bignette is almost painted (just light points and blend better something here and there reminds).

Instead please allow me to copy & paste some extracts from a post in another blog I readed some time ago. It talks about realy of self working. It's not written by me obviously. You can read it in desencadenado.com (In spanish, English is my own translation)

Life of a self-working is like a juggler that work with chinesse dishes, they put a dish over a rod rotating it  and then another one and another, but you still need to push on the first one to keep it rotating, and the same with six or seven... If you loose your focus one of them falls and the others go down with it.

Haste games Empire kickstarter

[English]

As i told you in advance yesterday, a couple of months ago a representative from Haste Games contacted me to paint some samples of their miniatures for their Kickstarter campaign. Since then  I had some mails with him and painted 3 miniatures for their boardgame, all of them tests casted in Resin of their final product that is going to be casted in hard plastic with a number of modular components to configure armies uniquely.

From the beggining they catched my attention because their seriously and care they put on their product. They were alwais looking for perfection searching for advices and testing those things I told them that they thought could be good to improve their miniatures. Proof of that are some changes they introduced in the original models to make cast and paintingjob easier.

At this point I painted 3 miniatures, you can see two of them at the end of this post (swordsman and heavy knight) but third one was discarted to improve in some ways (mainly rescaling some pieces).

If you like human armies themed in "El Dorado" (or at least that's waht they remind me), I reccomend you to visit their kickstarter web and take special care to the early birds.. they're limited!

Last Week's activity: Week 12

[English]

Last week was crazy, stressing, complex and weird.

Most of the working time was to finish the Skaven Engineer, but was a very uncontinued work due several circunstances.

First of all those weird circunstances was that on tuesday they come to change me a couple of windows, leaving the house up to down. Obviously everyone had workers at home sometimes but they are alwais a disrupt. Obviously that day I could work not so much.

Second one was than on thursday arrived the new forniture for my daugther's room and as there wasn't where to put the boxes those were at last to my studio becoming this a war zone. As alwais I was the one who had to assemble them (with some help from my politic mather).

I receibed the remaining pieces to complete the pending boxart. As you could imagin if you follow kickstarter, it was one of the 2 painted minis that Haste Games showed in thjeir campaing started this sunday so deadline was little bit adjusted. I'll talk about their project in deep in another post.

More thing I did: I prepared and teached a workshop in El puerto de Santa María called "tricks and shortcuts to paint tabletop miniatures". The workshop completed avaiable space in the Dragones y Castillos club and I think everybody was so happy with it!

Skaven Engineer

[ENGLISH]

I love skavens!

But much more plastic ones. Those games workshop's kits are awesome and this kiddy rats are sweety, I don't know why. They are very easy to paint, very soft work. Even if I worked so many hours in this miniature, every step was like it was painting itself alone.

Color scheme is a request from the collector. close to another Skaven I painted before and that was at the same time a tribute to one of Iguazzu's skavens. You can see it HERE

Base it's customer's idea too. Some of you could saw the step pics on my facebook. For those who not, What are you wainting for to click on "like" on my facebook page ?

Well here are the step pics too. Hope you like it!

Scale Model Handbook: Diorama modelling I

[ENGLISH]

Along the next days will be released the next magazine from MrBlack Publicartions, a modelers editorial that I alwais reccomend because they have special care with their products and their responsibles work hard to offer you a big quality product.

Even usually it's more focused in Historical, sometimes we can find some fantasy works there. But this time they're offering a different product: Diorama modelling I, first number of a new series based on scenes.

In this issue we can find very well known names as:  ANTONIO FDEZ (PIQUI) • JESUS GAMARRA • JAVIER GONZALEZ (ARSIES) • THEODOROS KELESIDIS • NOEL PETRONI • SERGEY POPOVICHENKO • COSTAS RODOPOULOS •  KAZUFUMI TOMORI • ALEX VARELA (IGUAZZU) • DAVE YOUNGQUIST

Last Week's Activity: Week 11

[SPANISH] You can read it in english below.

[ENGLISH]

That was a weird week. I finsihed the Darksword figurines as predicted, and the rest of the week I was jumping from a plan to another due several circunstances.

On Tuesday I spend most of the morning preparing the2013  Coolmini anual pictures. I used to edit the web sized pictures and let the HI-Res pics untouched, and as it's necesary to send them in the best quality possible, I needed to edit again all of them in big size.

True is that I'm not very confortable about how coolmini manages this, where their owners ask us for pictures for free to sell them and earn profits, and if we want a copy we must pay it even if they are earning money with our work, but an important piece of my client are on USA and even if I have no way to cuantify the commercial benefit, one lost morning it's not going to be a big difference.

2012 edition

I spent some time preparing (ckleaning and pinning) some miniatures, Skaven one or Exemplar Bastion from Warmachine, and I started to scult their scenic bases. I assembled too another of my Workld Expo projects.

I have a started boxart stopped because company's owners decided to switch some spare parts so i'm waiting for the new ones. It's quite cool and I hope they sell a lot of them. As you can imagin I can't tello you anymore.

On friday I have a visit at home. Fran, another Cursed Monkey was here to work in the morning with me on a bust he was painting for KLeganes Contest (As you know this weekend there was a contest, I couldn't go this time, My constest calendar is very conditiones this year buy my future paternity)

And at last on Sunday, day that I worked a few hours again, I took pictures of the Darksowrd miniatures and I edited them. I'll post the pics once the collector told me their are OK.

And that's it this time.

Last week's Activity: Week 10

[ENGLISH]

Last week was so productive, I did so many different things along it.

On monday y cleaned, prepared and assembled 3 Darksword 30mm miniatures from the box I already show you some weeks ago (remeber I have to paint all 6 miniatures). Those 3 are the last ones and if everything goes fine next week should be finished. As I was preparing minis I worked too on another Stresa mini of my second project.

Even more, I protected and packed some minsi that should be shipped, and rest of the day I was doing administrative wortk. As it was first days of month I must classify, order, and count all invoices, emited and receibed to be sure nothing is missed.

On wednesday I went to Seville because book's campaign for Modeling. Stories in miniature it's about to end, remember my work there is the administraive and management work. Antonio had his house full of boxes and books so he almost can't move so with my help and the Fran's (Fstar) one we could ship little bit more than half of the shippings along that morning. On friday they finished the work, so if you are wondering if your book is shipped, answer is YES, doesn't matter if you didn't receibed it yet or your option was A or B, your book IS SHIPPED, now timming depends only on postal service.

Rest of the week except sunday (yeah I had to work this sunday) I was painting the darksword minis. I'll post them together when finsihed, but if you are curious, somethimes I post some advances on my  facebook.

As I told you on sunday I had to apint a little bit, and I worked little bit with the books numbers to estimate counts, they are only estimates right now until our accountant confirms us them, but I believe that even with that you alwais have to have some numbers to avoid surprises.

Oh by the way, if you missed the Indiegogo's campaign and you are wondering if you can get a book yet, Piqui has the intention of selling a small second run of books. My work ends here with the Indiegogo's campaign so if you are interested you should contact him directly using  thecursedmonkeys @ gmail . com (without spaces) so as soon as he starts with he'll write you, maybe in a couple of weeks.

And to end i'm going to cuote another bloger I follow to add: Your oppinion is important for me. Do you have something to say?

Last Week's activity: week 9

Second consecutive week I worked on my first world expo propject and so this is the second consecutive week i can't tell you so much.

I can say that I was working on a fantasy scene with 2 minaitures theorically 75mm scaled but one of them much bigger than the other one, and I just finished the conversion work. It was 8 days work with Milliput and I think it deserved so much

Obviously I had some administrative work (budgets, questions in my em ail and something like that), and I lost a complete working morning when they came at last to fix my heating (do you remember I told you some weeks ago that it was broken? It was since first days of january till now broken on my room, brrr, how cold!)

Friday was local feast day so i didn't worked with minaitures, but I started to paint my daughter's room as she is spected to born on april :-)
