Last week's activity: Week 14

Lamentablemente mi espalda no da para más, cada vez tengo más dolor, me puedo sentar menos tiempo y mi pincelada es cada vez más difícil. El masajista (voy todas las semanas) me ha recomendado que me coja un par de semanas de baja. Evidentemente no puedo (aún), mi hija esta a punto de nacer y tengo que terminar el trabajo antes de cogerme un descanso.

La semana pasada no pude por tanto mantener el ritmo habitual, entre la espalda, los médicos para mi mujer y el papeleo (estamos a final de trimestre y además hay que encarar la declaración de la renta), el tiempo de pintura es menor, y una figura que debería estar ya terminada como es el Exemplar Bastion de Warmachine, está aún a medias.

Sadly my back can't keep up, I have more pain each day, I can keep working less time everyday and my brush stroke is each day more difficult. My massage therapist (I go every week) reccomended me to take a couple of weeks off. Obviously I can't yet, my daughter is about to born and I have to finish the work before take a rest.

So last week I couldn't keep my usual working rhythm, the back, my wife's doctor dates and the paper work (we are at quarter end and in spain self workers have to enter the taxes now, and the annual income taxes is heading), painting time is smaller so minaitures that should be finished as Warmachine's Exemplar Bastion are still on my workbench

Llevo pintando esta caja de 60 minis de 30 mm más o menos desde navidad. Las terminé todas hace ya un par de semanas pero no las había posteado aún.

Estas minis tienen un look my "old-style" y me recuerdan mucho a las miniaturas clásicas de fantasía de los 80 así que tienen algo especial incluso si hoy en día las minis tienen mucho más detalle y definición.

I was painting this box of 6 30 mm miniatures more or less since christmas. I finished all of them a couple of weeks ago but I didn't posted them yet.

This minis are very old-styled. They remember me classic 80's miniatures so they have a special cool looking even if actual minis have much more detail and definition.

Last Week's Activity: Week 13

Semana de Relax. Solamente he trabajado en mis entradas para World Expo y no voy a publicar aún ninguna foto nueva, pero puedo decir que la primera de las minis de mi escena de dos personajes está casi pintada (Solamente faltan puntos de luz y acabar de fundir alguna transición).

En lugar de eso me vais a permitir pegar una cita de otro blog que leí hace tiempo hablando sobre la vida del autónomo. Evidentemente no lo he escrito yo. Podéis leer la entrada completa en desencadenado.com 

la vida del profesional independiente se parece más a esos malabaristas que manejan los platos chinos. Ya sabes, ponen un plato encima de una vara haciéndolo girar. Después otro, y otro, pero entonces tienen que darle un impulso al primero, porque si deja de girar se cae. Y así pronto están atendiendo a seis o siete platos, a hacer girar cada uno en el momento preciso porque como se despisten con uno se va al suelo, y si uno se cae pierdes la concentración y el resto va detrás.

Relaxing week. I was only working on my world expo projects and I'm not going to post any new pic yet. I can only say that the first of my 2 miniature's bignette is almost painted (just light points and blend better something here and there reminds).

Instead please allow me to copy & paste some extracts from a post in another blog I readed some time ago. It talks about realy of self working. It's not written by me obviously. You can read it in desencadenado.com (In spanish, English is my own translation)

Life of a self-working is like a juggler that work with chinesse dishes, they put a dish over a rod rotating it  and then another one and another, but you still need to push on the first one to keep it rotating, and the same with six or seven... If you loose your focus one of them falls and the others go down with it.

Haste games Empire kickstarter

Tal como adelanté ayer, hace un par de meses un representante de Haste Games Contactó conmigo para pintar algunas muestras de figuras para su campaña de kickstarter.  Desde entonces he tenido algo de trato con el y he pintado 3 figuras para su juego, todas muestras en resina y pruebas de su producto final, que vendrá en matrices de plástico duro multicomponente.

Desde el principio me ha llamado la atención la seriedad y buen hacer que tienen con su producto. El mimo y cariño que han puesto en hacer bien las cosas, buscando opinión y consejo y probando aquellas cosas que les sugería y creían que podían mejorar sus miniaturas. Prueba de ello son algunos cambios que han introducido en los modelos originales para facilitar tanto la reproducción de detalles modelados como el posterior proceso de pintura.

Por el momento yo he pintado tres miniaturas, dos de ellas las podéis ver aquí al final de esta entrada (el escudero y el caballero pesado) mientras que el tercero se ha descartado para mejorar ciertos aspectos (principalmente el reescalado de alguna pieza).

Si os gustan los ejércitos humanos con temática del dorado (a mi es a lo que más se me parece), os recomiendo que visitéis su página de kickstarter con especial atención a sus ofertas tempranas (early birds), son limitadas!

As i told you in advance yesterday, a couple of months ago a representative from Haste Games contacted me to paint some samples of their miniatures for their Kickstarter campaign. Since then  I had some mails with him and painted 3 miniatures for their boardgame, all of them tests casted in Resin of their final product that is going to be casted in hard plastic with a number of modular components to configure armies uniquely.

From the beggining they catched my attention because their seriously and care they put on their product. They were alwais looking for perfection searching for advices and testing those things I told them that they thought could be good to improve their miniatures. Proof of that are some changes they introduced in the original models to make cast and paintingjob easier.

At this point I painted 3 miniatures, you can see two of them at the end of this post (swordsman and heavy knight) but third one was discarted to improve in some ways (mainly rescaling some pieces).

If you like human armies themed in "El Dorado" (or at least that's waht they remind me), I reccomend you to visit their kickstarter web and take special care to the early birds.. they're limited!

Last Week's activity: Week 12

La semana pasada fue de locos, estresante, complicada y bastante rara.

La mayor parte del tiempo me lo pasé trabajando en el Ingeniero Skaven, pero ha sido un trabajo muy intermitente por diversas circunstancias.

La primera circunstancia extraña ha sido que el martes me han cambiado varias ventanas, dejándome la casa patas arriba. Evidentemente todo el mundo tiene obras ocasionales pero siempre son un estorbo. Huelga decir que ese día pude hacer bastante poco.

La segunda ha sido que el jueves han llegado los muebles para la nueva habitación de mi niña, y como no había donde poner las cajas hasta que estuviesen montados me los han encasquetado en el estudio, convirtiéndolo en una zona de guerra. Por cierto, que me ha tocado a mi montarlos también (con algo de ayuda de mi suegra).

Además me llegaron las piezas que faltaban para completar el boxart que tenía pendiente. Como habréis imaginado los que habéis estado pendientes de kickstarter, se trata de una de las dos minis que Haste Games ha mostrado pintadas en su campaña lanzada este domingo, por lo que le plazo ha sido un poco ajustado. Hablaré de este proyecto de forma más extensa en otra entrada.

Además he preparado e impartido un taller en El Puerto de Santa María sobre "consejos y atajos para pintar miniaturas de tablero". El taller de una tarde llenó el aforo disponible en el club Dragones y Castillos y creo que todo el mundo quedó muy contento.

Last week was crazy, stressing, complex and weird.

Most of the working time was to finish the Skaven Engineer, but was a very uncontinued work due several circunstances.

First of all those weird circunstances was that on tuesday they come to change me a couple of windows, leaving the house up to down. Obviously everyone had workers at home sometimes but they are alwais a disrupt. Obviously that day I could work not so much.

Second one was than on thursday arrived the new forniture for my daugther's room and as there wasn't where to put the boxes those were at last to my studio becoming this a war zone. As alwais I was the one who had to assemble them (with some help from my politic mather).

I receibed the remaining pieces to complete the pending boxart. As you could imagin if you follow kickstarter, it was one of the 2 painted minis that Haste Games showed in thjeir campaing started this sunday so deadline was little bit adjusted. I'll talk about their project in deep in another post.

More thing I did: I prepared and teached a workshop in El puerto de Santa María called "tricks and shortcuts to paint tabletop miniatures". The workshop completed avaiable space in the Dragones y Castillos club and I think everybody was so happy with it!
