Mortarion Step by Step; Week 4

Hi all.

This was an exciting but very hard week. I managed to finish several important parts so I could start the Assembling of this guy!! In fact, it's not more work than other weeks, but it's a moral improvement as I can start to see light after all!

Let's see what we did!

Mortarion Step by Step; Week 3

Hello again.

This week's work is a bit repeating the previous steps we did during weeks 1&2; It's an exciting week as we could finish a couple of pieces completely so the moment to start assembling them is closer (but probably not yet next week).

Let's see what we did!

Mortarion step by step; Week 1

This week at Hydra Studio we started to paint Mortarion (well, when I say "we" I mean "me"; I paint personally all High-Quality works).

We decided to take some fast step by step pictures to post it at our facebook. Also, I'll share them with you on my blog too!

This week we had not so much time to work on it. Assembling and primming so big piece kept us busy a couple of days, but anyway we could do some interesting things.

Fran G. Project: "On the Bridge"

A long time ago, one of my best friends, Fran Gil, who is a master modeller for me and a great inspiration, even if he avoids totally the network, proposed me to cooperate in a couple of small scenes.

I of course accepted, but circumstances forced me to paint only in my free time, and that's not so much at all! Because of that, this second scene took me to complete it for almost 2 years. It's an insane amount of time.

This scene shows a couple of warriors on a robe bridge broken. We'll let at your imagination if Minotaur is saving or killing the other guy ;-). It was completely conversed by Fran and painted by me.

I know it does not reach my usual painting standards, but Fran is very happy with it in his showcase anyway, and also, I had some fun painting it.

Hope you like it too!

Kingdom Death #4

The last one of the batch of 4 miniatures I painted of Kingdom Death at Hydra Studio.

This time I tried to paint it as a summoner or something like that. With this mini, we finished the commission for this private customer, but we are going still to be painting Kingdom Death miniatures for other Customers that requested us to do something else for them.

Hope you like it!

Hispania Wargames, Grisalla (Grisaille) MasterClass

During the past weekend, Hydra Studio, where I'm currently Painting Head, did a painting MasterClass at Hispania Wargames where I expend a couple of hours painting 2 miniatures using Grisaille + Filters techniques with Airbrush (even if those techniques can be done with a brush).

The objective was to show people how they can improve their painting speed with armies that use the same colour schemes and at the same time, improve the quality of the painting work. In that way, I painted 2 minis at the same time with different qualities to show them that you don't need to be very skilful using an airbrush to paint in this way.

The Masterclass went great and so many people attended the 2 hours, with moments where we had more than 40 persons attending at the same time, something not very usual in this kind of events focused on tabletop wargaming.

We used 2 cameras to record the masterclass, but unfortunately, one of them didn't record anything and the other one was the assistant one, that was not in the best angle. Anyway, We'll try to recover everything useful and mount it in the following weeks.

Did you were there? tell us if you liked it :-)
