The getaway step by step (IX)

[en]This is the last step in the step by step of the getaway’s painting. First of all once i had finished the skin and with the bases already painted I worked the biggest elements, the chair and the robe under the chair.

The robe was quite small so i enlighted it with some flesh and I painted a little freehand, a simple line.

I worked on the chair pointing, it will be almost covered by the irder so i didn’t care about if it’s not perfect. I added a little texture and some scratches

After that I added some definition to the belts, I painted the bag in other brown and the sleeping bag. I used a colour differente of the other to broke, but not a intense one.

The rider is almost plenty of armour so i painted the base with boltgun and enlighted with mithril (i used airbrush and it was a mistake because the finish was not as real as i wanted). I aplied shadows with airbrush with a mixture of black and purple

I painted some other stuff in purple and green tones and i worked later on the face. I tried to reach a “bad guy” face.

In that point I was very hurry, deadline was close and i could not take any more pics :-( Just complements like the spear left, belts of the dragons face (that i did with yougurt lid), the kid, that i painted pointing to get  old clothes and pointing a lot the light on the face painting arms and legs darker and with a colour so close to terrain, to enforce he’s hidding, I painted the terrain with browns and greys and then I used water effect from 2k

And that’s all, hope you like it

Little blog renew

Arsies Studio is near 100.000 views (maybe we reach that number while i'm writing this post or maybe some hours later)!

I want to thank you all that read the blog cause your participation because it's obviously 'cause you. I hope I can continue like that for a long time and I'll try to offer more and better contents each time, something i'm working on, but I have not a lot of time.

After almost 2 years of blog i thought it was needed a little image change, miniatures on the head were too old, even with at least 3 years, so i spent some time in a new one, not so complex. Hope you like it.

Ultramarines colour sheet

Azul marina oscuro (vallejo model air)
Enchanted blue (citadel)
Hawk turcoise (citadel)
ice blue (citadel)
Spacewolf grey (citadel)
ivory (vallejo model color)

I know most of you are interested, so say the mails i get and so many comments in my ultramarines posts. I answered so many times, in this blog, email and facebook, I know for each one of you is the first time, hope you can understand I'm answering this for a year, and that's good because that means that you like my work :)

The ultramarines blue is painted with several airbrush layers, each one smaller than the previous one. Colour sheet is the following, and it's quite simple because i have to paint a lot of them:

Black primmer
Dark blue sea (vallejo model air)
Enchanted blue (citadel)
Hawk turcoise (citadel)
ice blue (citadel)
Spacewolf grey (citadel)
ivory (vallejo model color)

Stealing identity

http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=95113

Well, it's something that at last happends to everyone that work somethime painting commisions. Someone steal our work and post it under his own name ignoring workin politicies of the original author, me in that case, even if it's specified in the following paragraph:

In any case I reserve the rights of the pictures and the use of them for self advirtsment, in the same way I will keep the authorship of the figure. All my pictures are intelectual property of Javier González (Arsies) and are under a Creative Commons License.

That means that everyone can use my pictures (including the small ones of the queue sidebar) if he ask permission to the author, that's me, and includes a link to my website mentioning the font.
Why i'm posting this? because in those post in an engligh written forum someone just did that exactly, stealing my work:

Recently I updated some things in the Blog because I had my old dossier uploaded to megaupload so the link didn't work. Because of that I uploaded a new one (well, not entirely new, it has some months but I had only in paper), you can download it from the link in the right column in PDF or see a small one version in JPG in the "about me" page.

Isabella Von Carstein

After a hard reconstruction work and a very difficult job I can finally show you the Isabella Von carstein minaiture finished.

The getaway Step by Step (VIII)

[En]Once I have decided the skin’s look, colours to use and the way to paint it, i had no choice than doing the hard work and reply in the rest of the skin.

Even in fact the steps are the same you can see that due the size of the miniature i was needed to do the work in several steps. It’s no diffciult in fact but it’s a big amounth of work.

Fisrt of all I painted lights using texture, fisrt with some cammo green, later wottling flesh, ice yellow and ivory at last. In the picture it’s hard to see but every line have work with all those colours and that would make easier the shading work.

After that i worked cleaning the effect adding shadows and tones and intensity to the skin. I had to work with double complementary colours, that means taht i confronted the medium light colour against the medium shadow colour and the hight light colour against the high sahdow colour. After that I added intensity using inks.

As you can see, between those steps i painted some elements like the chair or the belts, that helps me to make a global work according the work done in previous sessions.

Imperial Fist

Some days ago Mi friend Rafa (volomir) asked me about imperial fists. I'd never painted before anything in yellow or ochre, a very difficult colour in my opinion. Rafa is a lover of imperial fists and he painted some time aogo one of the best ones, brother fonsel.

Case is that i feel curiosity and decided to paint one of them to see what happend. That is the score. As you see is quite simple, i decided not to use scratches or wheatering this time.

Hope you like it.

PD: miniature is for sale.

The Getaway; Step by Step (VII)

[En]When Piqui gives me the finished miniature I thought a hard work was in from of me that needed a different kind of work i usually do. Usually I use airbrush as far as I can almost finishing the miniature with only definition work left. Dragon’s texture made me impossible to do that

I thought i needed to give the principal paper to the dragon so i had to search an intense and alive colour for the skin that i wanted to work even more than usuall to give it more texture if possible.

First i did was to aply primmer to the minaiture in two colours, black and white so white would give me much lighter colurs and black would give me much deeper shadows even if this way could made much difficult the shades work. Fortunately texture would made that softer.

In that point i did a general volumes with airbrush and a colour base, just like a reference, and so i did a colour test in the head and shaw that I liked the colour even if it needed much more tones work.

I used two primmers black at first and white from abobe -
