They're attacking our flanks!

[En] All of you already Know I love Superheros and I love painting scenes with them, I did 2 past year and this is my first one this year, but I hope not the last one.

I did this scene with the idea of doing it in a round base back to back (that's something not very usual, should not be done as you are giving 2 different principal views, but I wanted to do anyway using a rotating base with batteries), but commisioner chosed to have both minis looking front, so "we are surrounded!" become "they're attacking our flaks!". The scene shows both Iron Man and Hulk trying to defend themselves from Ultron In the last scene of the film (I'm not going to give spoilers ;-P )

If you are wondering, yeah, I considered to add some Ultonbot's parts in the floor and even in the hulk's hands, but I decided at the end to do it a bit more minimalist to give more freedom to interpretate it (maybe you prefer to see a Hulks becoming crazy and catching Tony by susprise before punching him...)

hope you like it!

ARMY PAINTER MEGA PAINT SET; REVIEW #7: CONCLUSIONS

[En] This is the last article about Army Paiter's Warpaints. I spent a while (exactly an entire month) beetween sixth and seventh (and last one) as I wanted to use them a lot before giving some conclusions that could change with more use.

Before continue, I'm gonna show you a comparative chart with some color tones I mostly use and their closest one in other brands I have.

Those squares where painted with a single coat with more or less dilution as skimmed milk, remember I recommend at least 3 coats like this to have a great basecolor in a mini.

First impressions is that, almost alwais, best ones with brush are Andrea ones, followed closer by the sadly dissapeared old citadel ones that we can discard as they are not any more avaiable.

Second place instead old citadel ones is a draw between Army painter and vallejo model color. It depends on wich color we are using, so sometimes vallejo wins, other ones Army painter wins. They are prety closer in fact.

Brown tones are a clear win to josonja, followed by Army Painter, while in Metallics, for me, Army painter is clearly superior to Citadel new ones.

BUT we need to look closer:

Andrea works perfectly with brush, but you need to be a very technical painter to use them propertly. They are too matt so sometimes a great shade could look dirty just because it's too matt. Exactly the same shade with other brand could look much better. Even more, as far as I tried, I couldn't use them fine in my airbrush.

Old citadel have the perfect balance, they are good at brush, at airbrush, they are matt but slighty satin and covers fine with a great color saturation, but sadly you can't buy them anymore, and new ones doesn't reach the same level, even if with brush they work pretty fine, doesn't do the same on airbrush as they gave me some troubles.

Vallejo model color is the current better balanced brand. If I didn't knew old citadel I should say they are perfect for me, even if they lack a bit of color power as they tend to be a bit gray.

Josonja works fine, but I use them just for special things as they are a bit different to use. If you used to work with them (or you came from oil painting) they are a great option, specially because their ¡75 ml pots!

And at last our article's paints: Army Painter.

For me they reached a fixed place on my worktable. They are more versatile than Model Color, they are color stronger, that's what I miss on vallejo, they work a bit better on airbrush and they are very good at brush. If they are not yet my first paints it's because I don't have in their range my fetish colors (Dark sea blue, Oxford Blue, Burnt Umber, English uniform, Ice yellow, Ivory, Spacewolf grey and Tausept Ochre) and because they are not as regular as I wanted in their finish. Most of them are just perfect but some colors are too satin for my taste

In the other hand, since I have them I started to use washes (that Army painter calls inks) because they works perfectly and are very easy to handle. But if I want a true ink I still use old citadel or game color.

So, talking in general, I can reccomend them, black over all, with that black is easier to paint straight lines in freehands than with other brands I have.

If you are feeling curious, I think at least you should try them, for me, they deserve it.

"It's a trap!" - Sumothay

[En] I've always heard that this great figure of Raul G. Latorre was one of the most difficult pictorical challenges any hobbilist could try. I nevere tried before.
I love the mini, looks beautiful, but there is not so much things where the painter can show their skills, but painting well, with so many elements and without anything out place or looking strange it's a goal, therefore I decided to seek distinction with the ground, something more elaborated than usual in the Sumos I've seen out there.
So this is how born the scene "It's a Trap!" (Also affectionately called "apache attack  to vegetable stand") where you can interpret that Sumothay is a mercenary charged with protecting a merchant convoy of food and water or a pirate raiding an alcohol convoy.
At the end I must say that the fame of complex Sumothay has is justified. Actually most of the work was rewarding and simple, but when you approach the end and see how the days go by and keep painting little details and little details, and they never end  : P
I hope you like it and effort worth it
