Painting DeathWatch Army: Week 8; #Warmaster's Crusade

As you already know, Volomir.com presented their challenge "Warmaster's Crusade"Basically, a couple of painters have a limited time to complete a 1000 points Warhammer 40.000 army.

As you know I'm participating aside them until checkpoint 3 in June where Warmasters must have completed 500 points army. My objective is to paint 710 points at that point.

Also, I'll keep you updated on the work I do every week I work in this Army. Past Monday 14th I posted the work done in week 7. After week 8 We're almost at the finish line:

This week was to finish details on each marine and paint faces.

Anyway, do you want to see some advances?

To paint the faces I started with a basic base of Tallarn Flesh (citadel foundation), without mixes. I painted lights adding slowly Dark Flesh (Andrea) and Sunny Skin Tone (Model Color). I finished adding Ivory (Model Color) and painting light points just with ivory. Around 20 layers more or less.

To paint the shadows I mixed the base with blood red (Scale color) & scorched brown (old citadel) a couple of times, adding a bit of black at the end. (around 6 layers). I clean the faces with glazes of some medium tones I had in my palette.

Also, once done, I added some beard effect with dark green glazes. In some cases, I also texturized the hair pointing with a mixture of skin tones, green and brown to finish it with more glazes of green as in the beard.

Here you can see a couple of finished faces.

Now, I need to paint a banner and build the bases. Not so complex this time. some stones, grass, and sand. I'll have them finished a week before the deadline, but 3 weeks after my original intention. Anyway, that was more due to external reasons than to a slower paint job. I expected 8 weeks and finally, they are going to be 9, nothing much about to worry.
